Active Call To Action Items

TENNESSEE MOTORCYCLISTS WHO SEEK RESTORED LIBERTY--HELP NOW.

Our Liberty Bill HB2661 is before the House Transportation Sub-committee.  it will most likely be heard on February 21 or February 28.  CALL OR WRITE NOW, PLEASE!!  OUR VOTE IS VERY, VERY, VERY CLOSE.  ONE VOTE WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!!!!

This is not a difficult task, if every grass roots motorcycle citizen receiving this dedicates 30 minutes to resourcing at least one constituent who resides in a district listed below.

We are also providing opportunities to call community resources in the district to let them know they are losing money because of the mandatory helmet law in this state.  If you ride to Kentucky to enjoy your liberty, they need to hear from you immediately!!!

The ultimate goal is that ANY and ALL communication must be respectful.  While calling, please imagine that you are in an extremely important job interview.  Even if it does not look as though you will be “getting the job”, or, vote in this case, you MUST be committed to end the conversation in a kind and civil manner… After you hang up the phone, you can cuss out the wall.

The Legislative team of CMT/ABATE, Inc. classifies legislators in four categories:
Champions, Friends, Worthy Adversaries, and Enemies.

This is important!!! What if the next person to contact this individual makes a point that hits home to win them into the friend category?  If your contact ends ugly, it will ruin that potential, and possibly send a "worthy adversary into the Enemy category.  The goal is to continue to move legislators UP through the ranks.  The requests below are to help move people UP the ranks.  You are not being asked to contact any Enemy--someone who CANNOT be swayed, and who NEVER supports any motorcyclists' issue.  We have nearly eradicated Enemies from our arena of political influence, and want to just move people UP!!

Your interaction has to be thought of like a Preacher describes witnessing to lost souls.  Conversions rarely happen from one conversation. Whether you till the soil, lay the seed, water the row or pull weeds warm with sunshine, you must leave that ground-work without harm so that it will become the future harvest you anticipate.

So analyze yourself ahead of time.  If you know your passion might lend to a short fuse, please choose to write rather than call.  You still can be an important contributor to this harvest!

Calls don’t have to come from riders.  Just people who believe it is not the state’s job to tell us what to wear when we ride.  (So call your mommas, brothers, sisters, children and all other unpaid promises.  Our liberty is riding that you will do as much as the rest of us are!)

If your friend, aunt, ex-spouse or twice removed cousin owns a business in one of these districts, their business could be positively impacted by changing this law.  Restaurants, grocers, convenient store/gas stations, repair shops, retail sales, hotels, camp grounds and amusement venues all stand to prosper when adult choice is restored.  It has been proven historically in the last four states that have modified their law.

All we are asking is that these members allow the full discussion on this bill happen before full Committee. Their opportunity to oppose the bill will still be available in that committee.

Also, we don’t necessarily need members to vote in favor of the bill passing out of Sub-committee. Suggest that "No" voters  simply agree to abstain from the vote or be somewhere else when the Committee convenes, that would work as well.

So here are the members and suggestions how you can either personally impress upon them to support passage of this bill to full committee or get someone else involved who can.

HB2661 – The Liberty Bill

These Members have open ears and simply need to know their constituents support the bill so they can stand up against the special interest groups that oppose us.

Give these members an estimate of what you’ll likely spend in and around their district because of their support.

Members of Transportation Sub-Committee who oppose the bill:
All three of these members have been contacted by constituents.  ONLY constituents should contact them presently.  However, if you are not a constituent, you can have an impact by letting their community know what they are loosing in tourism.  Tell them you will continue to enjoy Kentucky tourism rather than theirs because of this law!
      House district 2 in Kingsport, TN Representative Tony Shipley
(Eastern most state district, glorious site-seeing, easy access from No Carolina or Virginia, close to AHDRA races in Bristol, TN)
Rep Shipley is actively lobbying fellow members of the transportation sub-committee.  Very close to becoming an Enemy.  Let's encourage him to be a friend through businesses in his district.  Contact his Chamber of Commerce, their list of vineyards and other tourism industry members to let them know you’ll continue to take your tourism dollars to Kentucky because Tony Shipley refuses to support of HB2661.

      House district 37 in Monteagle, Spencer & Dunlap, TN Rep. Bill Harmon
(Central state district on the Upper Cumberland Plateau. This district is definition of Tennessee glory.  There are valley farm communities nestled between large Cumberland Mountains that have awesome four lane state hwys and two lane switch backs that are very lightly traveled.)

Representative Harmon, in th past as chairman of Transportation Committee, honored his word to provide a fair hearing for our issues.  For some unknown reason, he now opposes the bill and states he will vote no.  Today he announced that he would not run for the Representative position this fall.  However he may run for Mayor or for the Senate.  He needs to be encouraged that there are motorcyclists in his area that VOTE!!.  His district hosts a motorcycle rally in Monteagle, TN called Thunder on the Rock.
http://www.thunderontherock.net/?page_id=34.  Please contact the event staff and let them know that you will only attend their event if Rep Harmon supports HB2661.

      House district 44 in Portland, TN Representative Mike McDonald
(Portland and surrounding area boasts the highest volume of wineries in TN.  Here is the link to their information.  If you have Kentucky motorcycle friends, be sure to forward this email to them.  Have them share that they will keep their wine country touring dollars in TN unless Rep McDonald supports HB2661!)
